MAD stands for Machine Aided Design.

I am Amin Shah, an architectural designer working between computation and construction. Geometry gets generated and solved parametrically — in Rhino, Grasshopper and Revit — but the test of it is whether someone can actually build the thing from the drawing set.

Roots is the other half, and it is not decoration. Vernacular strategies carry real engineering: the Cooling Petal takes the evaporative logic of North African mashrabiya screens into a modular terracotta facade, and the Fog Catcher pulls drinking water out of the air with a slotted membrane and a bamboo umbrella frame.

The work runs from panelised housing and facade systems to gridshells and water harvesting. What holds it together is a bias toward assemblies that ship flat, go up with hand tools, and come apart again — checked against life-cycle analysis and the codes they actually have to pass.
